Valnerina and more

Valnerina, or the valley of the river Nera around Norcia, was a main area for religious retreats, and a centre of spirituality because of  the early presence  of Syrian monks, who provided the base for the following development of the Benedictine order.  Along Valnerina there are  enchanting mountain  landscapes, and a number of secluded abbeys, perched hamlets and old villages, once meant as a defense  for the area. Valnerina is also a perfect stop for all food lovers: truffle dishes and delicious hams and salami are part of the  local tradition.
