Montefalco

Montefalco, known as the “balcony of Umbria”,  lies in a panoramic position with splendid views over the Umbrian Valley. It has numerous  treasures of art and spirituality in its churches. 

HALF- DAY TOUR:

Church-Museum of St. Francis*:  besides an archaeological collection and a painting gallery, this former church boasts the extraordinary frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli and Perugino

Piazza del Comune: close to the above mentioned museum is the charming circular Piazza with a medley of buildings and the town hall

The church of St. Chiara di Montefalco: dedicated to the great mystic of the 13th century, it contains a chapel decorated with medieval frescoes and a reliquary.A stroll through the small town will take the visitor  through charming pink-stone alleys, beautiful stone  churches, and  breathtakingpanoramas opening onto the valley just below .
